How does Bellafill work? Bellafill is the only dermal filler that will stimulate collagen in the injection area for growth long term to help maintain a youthful appearance for up to 5 years. Now, Dr. Keshwani will help his patients can look their best without wasting time and money on frequent filler injections.
Unlike most injectable fillers, Bellafill® does require a skin test to identify patients who may be allergic to the bovine collagen or lidocaine. Dr. Keshwani or an clinician will have to conduct a skin test on your initial appointment. This test is performed by injecting a small amount of purified bovine collagen gel into your forearm to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions to bovine collagen and/or lidocaine. If, after four weeks, there is no adverse reaction to your skin test, then you can be approved for treatment.
Treatments take approximately 30-45 minutes and Bellafill is pre-mixed with lidocaine (a local anesthetic) to ensure comfort during and after treatment. The amount of Bellafill® required will depend on the severity of the lines/wrinkles which are to being addressed. As with many fillers, you may have temporary discomfort, swelling and reddening at the injection site. These side effects are usually gone within a few days. Occasionally, you may have some bruising that usually disappears within 7 days. While most patients experience only a minimal amount of discomfort and are able to immediately resume normal activities.
A follow-up appointment is usually suggested 4-6 weeks after treatment. This allows an amount of time that will help you to decide if you would like to further enhance or correct the area.
