Cosmelan® Depigmentation Peel

Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel Treatments

A Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel can be used to treat skin on the face, abdomen, legs, and hands.

The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical treatment designed to reduce areas of melasma (brown to gray patches over the bridge of the nose, cheeks, chin, and elsewhere on the face and body; often the result of hormonal changes), cholasma (similar to melasma; often referred to as the mask of pregnancy), and hyperpigmentation.

Melanin is responsible for creating skin tone as well as discolorations. The Cosmelan Peel decreases the skin’s natural melanin production by inhibiting certain enzymes, providing an even complexion.Benefits of a Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel:

  • Reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Effective in the treatment of Melasma and Cholasma
  • Compatible with all skin types/complexions
  • Contains no TCA or hyrdoquinine
  • Minimal side effects

The Cosmelan Peel is safe for all skin tones and ethnicities. Treatment is executed in 2 phases: phase one consists of the application of Cosmelan I, a mask which is applied at the Elite Doc Health and Beauty office that the patient wears home and leaves on from 4 to 8 hours, depending on skin type. At the indicated time, the mask is washed off with water and a pH neutral cleanser. Phase two consists of daily application of a maintenance cream called Cosmelan 2, which contains botanical acids that support the depigmentation achieved. Side effects are minimal; some patients experience warm flushing and/or slight itching immediately following phase one of the procedure. The exfoliation process may not be noticeable until the second or third day following the procedure, indicated by mild peeling, itching or skin tightness. Patients should refrain from using products containing retinoic acid, glycolic acid, or skin bleaching or lightening agents one week before the procedure. Patients should also avoid waxing/bleaching/threading the area to be treated for one week before and for one month after a Cosmelan peel. To maintain satisfactory results, a sunscreen of SPF 40 or higher must be worn at all times following treatment.
