XEOMIN Overview
XEOMIN (IncobotulinumtoxinA) Injectable Filler, Is A Prescription Medicine That Is Injected Directly Into Muscles And Is Used To Temporarily Improve The Look Of Moderate To Severe Frown Lines Between The Eyebrows (Glabellar Lines) In Adults. Xeomin Is Used In Many Other Areas Around The Face To Smooth And Reduce Wrinkles.
XEOMIN is effective for treating:
- Forehead lines
- Wrinkles between your eyebrows
- Wrinkles in the upper lip area
- Crow’s feet on the outside of the eyes
How does XEOMIN work?
XEOMIN dermal injections block the nerve transmissions from nerve endings to the targeted facial muscles, which will help in reducing the wrinkles on the skin. As with other types of botulinum treatments, such as BOTOX, XEOMIN prevents muscles from contracting. However, unlike older botulinum treatments, XEOMIN contains no additives, which may decrease a patient’s risk of an allergic reaction.
During the first three days after treatment you should avoid rubbing or touching your face excessively. This can cause the injected material to be spread to nearby muscles. It is also important to keep your head and neck elevated during this time.
The day of Xeomin treatment, some precautions are advised:
Advised to not lie down for four hours after the treatment
Do not massage or apply heat to the area treated
Avoid strenuous activities that cause flushing which can be hot tub, sauna, exercising, or drinking alcohol.
These injections take approximately 15 minutes, and your results are usually visible after five to seven days.
Patients may sometimes experience redness, bruising or swelling at the injection site. However, these are temporary and should disappear after a couple of days. Follow-up treatments are recommended usually about every six months to maintain optimal results.

- Any injection can hurt, but the needles used for XEOMIN injections are very small, so pain is usually minimal. In addition, we use numbing cream which is applied 5 – 10 minutes before treatment and cool air flow during your treatment to further minimize any discomfort.
- The amount of XEOMIN you’ll need depends entirely on a few contributing factors. These include:
- The type of wrinkles you’d like to treat
- Your unique aesthetic goals
- The degree of muscle movement in your face
- The number of times you've had XEOMIN in the past
- Your health history
- In general, XEOMIN injections are meant to last 2-3 months. To keep results going, you could need a follow-up treatment. After that, you should be able to expect your treatments to begin lasting longer.

- Do not travel by airplane within 24-48 hours after treatment
- Do feel free to use the muscles treated (frown, smile, raise your forehead) as this may help improve the onset of treatment
- If bruising occurs, it may be covered with makeup. Bruises usually resolve in just a few days
- It will take 5-7 days for you to see improvement, and peak effect at 2 weeks
